After serving as president of the El Paso Writers' League for two years, she’s currently vice-president. Munch’s efforts, on behalf of the El Paso Writers’ League, have been recognized and honored by the Texas House of Representatives, for strengthening El Paso’s creative community and heightening awareness of the art and craft of writing. She also belongs to SouthWest Writers, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Mesilla Valley Writers, and the Writers League of Texas.
Munch, a Philadelphia native, has lived in El Paso since 1988 where she works as treasurer for a small business. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from Philadelphia University and worked for major corporations in management accounting for 20 years. After four years of tutoring elementary school students in reading, Munch turned her talents toward writing with a desire to promote literacy in today's youth. She enjoys writing about other cultures through the eyes of American children, blending history with fiction, while educating as well as entertaining. Her son, Nick, inspired her to write about The Tower of London.
Munch completed a writing project with Southwest historian, Leon Metz, chronicling the 90-year history of El Paso's city-county hospital, Thomason General. It was published in May 2005 as a supplement to the El Paso INC. She’s currently working on a nonfiction book for The El Paso Center for Children and her second children’s novel. When not writing, Munch enjoys reading, working-out at the gym, yoga, meditation, singing her Temple choir, and traveling.
