Teacher/LIbrarian Comments

Donna,
You've written a wonderful children's book! I only hope my grandson doesn't want to visit England after reading that story. The anger management part gets children involved i mmediately, and the descriptions of the towers and the typical teen-age "getting in trouble" antics made the kids seem normal. Congratulations on being such an accomplished writer!

Dear Mrs. Munch,
Thank you so much for sharing with us your personal experiences as a writer. It is so effective to have students hear about the writing process and experiences that authors like yourself have gone through. The students were enriched and impressed with your interactive and informative presentation. We wish you luck on your second book.
Sincerely,

Carmen Zamora

Donna,
Thank you so much for your autographed copy of "Dark Tales of the Tower" mailed to me by Mary Louise Gibson. I have read it and am passing it on to my granddaughters Nicole (11) and Diane (12) with my praise. You did an excellent job of incorporating history, geography, differences in language and customs that exist between the big pond, a visitors' guide on sights to see in London and nearby in a compelling children's story that concludes with a moral to live by. JOLLY WELL-DONE, Donna!

Donna Munch, author of Dark Tales of the Tower, shared the writing process and uniqueness of combining history with fiction. Her revision time impressed a fourth-grader who said, "Wow, it too you two years to write your book? It took us only one and a half weeks to write our memoirs!" Our fourth and fifth-graders enjoyed learning the historical information, meeting Reginald, the raven, seeing the pictures and listening to the author tell how the plot and characters developed in her book.

Ms. Munch’s workshop was wonderful. It was well researched and very engaging. It was a successful blend of group participation and instruction on the structure of fiction. The children had a wonderful time and responded very well to Donna’s relaxed style of teaching. We would welcome her again anytime!

Thank you so much for coming to Dr. Green to talk to the fifth graders about your book. The presentation was wonderful! Teaching the students about the writing process was very helpful. They were engaged and attentive. I could tell by their questions that they were very interested in the subject matter. You had great rapport with the students, and I hope you will be able to come again to present your book to our fourth graders.

Laurie Valenzuela,
Tippin Elementary School librarian, says:
"Donna Munch visited our school on December 1, 2005.
She presented to our fifth-graders about the writing process,
how to develop characters, and conflict resolution. She has
an enormous amount of knowledge about the Tower of
London and shared that with our students. She has a great
way of developing a story with the young reader in mind!"

Tippin Elementary fifth-grade teacher, Patti Gallegly, says: "My
class thoroughly enjoyed learning about becoming an author.
You inspired several of them to pursue their writing. Thank you
for coming!"

Tippin Elementary fifth-grade teacher, D. Baca, says:
"Thanks for coming. The children really enjoyed your presentation
and were asking questions even after we came back to class!"

Pat Romero Putnam Elementary Librarian "The fourth and fifth grade
students at Putnam Elementary really enjoyed Donna Munch's presentation.
Not only did she talk about her book, but she also presented a realistic
picture of the writing process and its application in producing creative stories.
A great "authentic" learning experience!"

Marie Garcia Putnam Elementary fourth-grade teacher "I certainly enjoyed
Donna Munch's presentation. She made it very interesting for the students by
giving a lot of background information about the Tower and showing them
the pictures. I also liked the way she categorized the sections: setting, characters,
problem or conflict, solution."
